Retrieving Library Material

The UE Library renovation has began and public access to the stacks is unavailable.  However, you can still get books, DVDs, CDs, etc.  How?  By placing a HOLD request.  This video shows you how.

Getting Ready to Renovate


We are very excited about the upcoming library renovation starting May 11, 2015.  To accommodate the aggressive construction schedule, the libraries will close to all on May 7th.

Library services to the UE community will be by appointment only and our operating hours will be M-F 8 am – 5 pm (closed holidays).

Access to library materials (books, journals, DVDs, ILLs, etc.) will be readied for pick up in Technical Services, 2nd floor, Clifford Library, accessed through the original Clifford Library entrance.

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) Database Affected by Federal Government Partial Shutdown.

The U.S. Department of Education has posted this notice on the ED.gov
Thank you for visiting ED.gov. Due to a lack of appropriations, ED activities have been curtailed and most employees are on furlough. ED.gov will not be updated during the shutdown. Updates will resume and ED will return to normal operations as soon as funding is restored.  During the shutdown, information at ED.gov may not be up to date, transactions submitted via ED.gov might not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.

ERIC, the online database that provides research resources devoted to education, is also affected by the shutdown.  The notice on the ERIC website advises:
Dear Users,

Due to a lapse of appropriations and the partial shutdown of the Federal Government, the systems that host
www.eric.ed.gov have been shut down. Services will be restored as soon as a continuing resolution to provide funding has been enacted.
UE Libraries connection to the ERIC database is available and  it’s possible to conduct a search and retrieve a list of results.  However, full text of any ERIC documents included on the result list is not currently available.

CINAHL Complete is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing & allied health literature and supports nursing and allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers.  Database includes full text for more than 1,300 journals, indexing for more than 5,400 journals, searchable cited references for more than 1,460 journals, and full text dating back to 1937 for selected journals. UEL's trial ends 5/1/13.
