Update on the Library Renovation Project

Due to construction delays, the 1st and 2nd floors of the Bower-Suhrheinrich Library will not be open at the start of the semester.  Until work is completed on 1st and 2nd, the library will be offering the following service plan.

Coming soon! Library Information Commons
The Clifford Memorial Library entrance will be open and most services will be offered from our temporary service desk in Room 262 (Acquisitions Department).  Hours of service will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

These services will be offered:
  • Pick up and drop off of library materials
  • Interlibrary loan and document delivery services
  • Course Reserve collection
  • Photocopier with scan-to-email capability
  • Research Assistance
  • Library Instruction

Research Assistance provides personalized, one-on-one guidance in the most effective use of the University Libraries’ collection of online resources. Students, faculty and other researchers meet in a private session with a research librarian arranged by appointment at the researcher’s convenience.  Interested researchers can sign up online at the University Libraries’ web page at https://www.evansville.edu/libraries/rapSignup.cfm.  For more information concerning Research Assistance, contact Randy Abbott at 812-488-2727 or e-mail ra2@evansville.edu with questions.

New group study rooms
Thanks to the generous support of Alumni and other friends of the University, we are able to carry out renovations on Bower-Suhrheinrich Library's 3rd and 4th floors.  These improvements include six new group-study rooms, as well as all-new furniture, lighting, paint and carpeting, and realigned stacks. Unfortunately, completing these more extensive renovations means we will be unable to have access to those two floors until late in the autumn semester.

3rd floor books and stacks are getting packed up
When students request a book from our collection, staff retrieve the book if accessible or order a copy from another library, preferably from one of our regional lending partners.  Most books requested through interlibrary loan arrive within 7 days.  Regardless of how the requested information is procured, staff inform students about the process and any relevant updates by email.

We share your frustration during this period of disruption, but we are confident you will agree that the improvements will be worth the wait.  Any questions can be directed to Interim Library Director Steven Mussett at 812-488-2376.
