Library Partially Open While Work Continues

Information Commons
On Monday, October 26th, the 1st and 2nd floors of the library opened.  Students are very excited to experience the new space dedicated to their learning and discovery.  Six collaborative spaces offer students the ability to jointly work on projects using wide-screen monitors.  Dozens of movable whiteboards allow students to define the space while being utilized for brainstorming and studying.

Vending & Cafe Area
The Information Commons provides over 30 computers, lots of comfortable seating and powered study tables.  Cafe tables and a vending area greet students using the newest entrance close to Ridgway University Center. Library services like research assistance, circulation and interlibrary loan are delivered in the center of the Commons.

The 2nd floor has additional study areas including two new media study rooms where the Libraries' large AV collection can be viewed.  Patrons can now browse through the CD and DVD collections displayed on new shelving.

The 3rd and 4th floors remain closed as the renovation continues.  All the books and shelves were removed from these floors to speed the construction process.  Reassembling the stacks and reshelving the books is an arduous and ongoing task.  Stay tuned for details regarding when these floors will reopen.
