Work @ Ramona Apartments

To help alleviate the flooded sidewalks outside the Ramona

Apartments, work began to install new sidewalks and porches. Workers explained that 2 porches (left and below) will be replaced and new sloped sidewalks poured. This will help eliminate the rain puddles that typically form. Workers also removed

some of the ivy surrounding the doorways.

Bricking the Walkway

Lots of work on the plaza since the last post. Concrete has been poured and smoothed. Bolts for the new lighting have been drilled into the cement.

Some walkways are getting narrower as work progresses.

The workers lay the bricks in a X design. This picture was taken from the Oval looking north.

Putting in a New Drive

While this is not really library related, some of the construction work evolving from the Ridgway University Center is a new driveway between Hale and Hughes Halls.

Yesterday, crews surveyed the area.

Apparently, the sand volleyball court and the basketball court will be causalities of this effort.

The driveway will basically loop around Hale Hall.

BUT, students will have a shorter walk when unloading their cars come August.

Brick Diamonds

Today, the construction crews laid out one brick diamond. Note the large pallet of bricks on the left of the photo. More diamonds on the way!

Workers also buffed the cement laid in east of Olmsted to the Oval.

Monday Morning @ the Library

Just your average day...

Construction workers poured concrete into forms running from the Oval to Olmsted's back door.

Workers lay rebar out. Later in the afternoon, cement was poured over the area.

Yes! We ARE Open!

You have have noticed recent demolition activity in front of the Library. Rest assured! The Library is open.
