Annual Christmas Lunch

The libraries closed briefly today in order for staff to enjoy our annual holiday lunch at Biaggi's. A grand time, and excellent food, was had by all. Don't you wish you'd been there?

The Around Operator @ Google

Google now allows you to search for words AROUND each other.  How does this work?  Type in term AROUND(n) term.  (Around has to be capitalized.)  It's that simple.

Whale Snot & Cursing Away Pain - Research that matters!

The Ig Nobel Awards were awarded in September to some incredible scholarly research.  For instance, two researchers in the Netherlands discovered a treatment for asthma that entailed roller coasters and a trio of researchers in New Zealand demonstrated that people would fall less on icy footpaths if they just worn socks on the outside of their shoes.
